Some colours seem to carry their own light. In Maasai culture, yellow is linked to the sun and to fertility, vitality and energy; here it becomes a small but unmistakable presence on the wrist.
The glass beads are joined by hand by Maasai women artisans in Kenya, continuing a bead-jewellery craft that crosses generations within the community. Across the community, women, men and children have traditionally worn beadwork as part of their adornment.
